Record Navigation: Where Did the Arrows Go?

Post Author: Joe D365 |

One of the many time saving navigation features within Dynamics 365 is the use of the record navigation arrows on individual records. This allows users to easily navigate up and down the record list without having to jump back to the view to open the next record in line. Another time saving feature is the editable grid control that can now be added to views within Dynamics 365. However, the two don't always play nicely together within Dynamics 365 (Fall 2016).

When a record is opened from the grid with the editable grid control turned on, the arrows are disabled.

However, if you change the grid type back to Read-Only then the navigation arrows are enabled for use.

This conflict is resolved in the Dynamics 365 October 2017 Update (v9) but for those still using Fall 2016, this is your work around.
