Summary

Dynamics 365 University presents the Power BI Series. Power BI for Beginners and Power BI Intermediate are instructor-led courses designed to support individuals who will be responsible for reporting and analytics of data from Dynamics 365, Dataverse, other CRM and ERP technologies, spreadsheets, additional internal or external online sources and other corporate data. It is also useful for those interested in improving charts, analytics, and discovering new insights into data.

The beginner course cover basic Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service skills including connecting to data, creating reports, adding visualizations, publishing to the web, creating dashboards and sharing analytics with apps and workspaces. The intermediate course builds on these skills and helps users get the most out of their data with topics such as shaping data, custom columns, row level security and an introduction to Data Analysis Expressions (DAX). Courses are taught with a sample Dynamics 365 data set and the skills and concepts can be used across many different data sources.

Power BI for Beginners

This instructor-led course provides an introduction to the Power BI Desktop app as well as the Power BI Service. Use Power BI Desktop to connect to different data sources, transform data using the Power Query Editor, build reports, and add visuals, bookmarks, and wallpapers before publishing to the Power BI Service.

Create dashboards in the Power BI Service to share with colleagues. Collaborate with workspaces and Microsoft Teams. Understand how Power BI integrates with Dynamics 365 and Power Apps model-driven apps. Provide admins and anyone responsible for working with Power BI the fundamental skills to prepare and publish analytics in ways which are most helpful to the organization.

Power BI Intermediate

This instructor-led course builds on the skills learned in the Power BI for Beginners training. Apply best practices for cleaning and transforming data in Power Query. Understand in detail the different storage modes available and how to deal with data import issues. Optimize the data model in Power BI Desktop by creating relationships, cleaning up the field list, creating hierarchies and grouping data. Create calculated columns and simple measures with an introduction to DAX (the Power BI Data Analysis Expressions language). Configure Power BI row level security. Provide admins and anyone responsible for working with Power BI with the intermediate skills to prepare and publish analytics in ways which are most helpful to the organization.
