PowerApproval gives users more control over approval processes in Dynamics 365
One of the thirty PowerObjects PowerPack add-ons has recently gotten a few enhancements. PowerApproval, our approval-tracking add-on, allows users to build approval processes; identify specific users, teams, or managers who can approve each step; and track the approval process on any record in Dynamics 365 for Customer Engagement.
From the beginning, PowerApproval gave users the ability to reject an approval step and restart the approval process. Previously, however, users could not configure from which step to restart the process; it would automatically start back at step 1 in the process when the record was resubmitted for approval. Now, users can define – for each approval process – from which step the process should restart when it is resubmitted after a rejection: from the beginning (step 1) or from the step on which it was rejected.
PowerApproval has also been enhanced to provide users the ability to define specific rejection reasons. This makes it easier to report on why approval steps are being rejected overall.

Top 5 PowerPack Add-ons
PowerObjects has developed 30+ PowerPack add-ons that enhance the functionality of Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Customer Engagement. The PowerPack subscriber base just recently hit 1,000,000 users, so we thought it was good time to share our top five most popular add-ons. Enjoy!
This nifty little add-on allows you to automatically put any combination of sequential numbers, random letters, date/time stamps, field values, or static characters into a field of any entity of Dynamics 365. And you can customize things like formatting, number of digits/characters, starting number, and whether to assign an auto-number on record create, record update, or both. The most common use for PowerAutoNumber is to create unique identifiers for records like Quotes, Accounts, etc. It may seem simple, but it's powerful, and it's our most popular PowerPack add-on.
As the name suggests, this add-on helps you by displaying in a single view all records related to a specific Entity. Simply open an Account – like Fourth Coffee shown below, for example – and the PowerOneView window will display all Contacts, Activities, Cases, Opportunities, etc. related to it. Furthermore, you can even add activities to the selected record in the window with a single click – below we've added a phone call activity to a Contact related to Fourth Coffee right from PowerOneView. It's no wonder this time-saving tool is #2 on our list!
And to take it a step further, you can configure PowerOneView so that, within an Account, you can view all additional records that are related to the specific record you're viewing in the window. For example, if we're on PowerOneView for the Fourth Coffee Account, not only can we see all records related to Fourth Coffee, but if one of those records is , say, Contact A, we're also able to view all Activities that are related to Contact A!
If you have a form on your website and you use Dynamics 365, you need PowerWebForm! This awesome add-on allows you to create a webform in Dynamics and put it on your website, and then it uses the provided information to automatically create a CRM record – you decide which kind, including custom entities! Many of our customers use PowerWebForm for their Contact Us forms and automatically create Leads within Dynamics when the form is submitted. This is a huge efficiency gain, as it is no longer necessary to manually enter leads into the system; it's also a win for your potential customers, as it shortens the lag time from submission to first contact attempt. PowerWebForm can connect to your GoToWebinar account and automatically detect duplicates in the system before creating a new one. We even included a double opt-in feature (you can choose whether to turn it on) that generates and embeds a unique URL into a confirmation email that is sent to the address submitted. Until the recipient clicks the link to verify and opt-in, they are considered to have opted-out.
This add-on provides a grid in which you can edit information displayed on Views in Dynamics 365. Simply navigate to PowerGrid and choose an Entity and View – then you can edit information in that grid without having to open the records and wait for them to load. With PowerGrid, you can also configure expressions to automatically highlight a row if a specific set of criteria is true. For example, you can highlight yellow all rows in which the Main Phone field is blank, as shown below. It also allows you to limit your search to only the View you select versus having to create Advanced Finds to accomplish the same thing. PowerGrid also gives you a handy reading pane to view additional information about the record without having to open it. Another simple, but truly powerful, PowerPack add-on.
This wonderful search tool allows you to quickly search across any Field of any Entity in Dynamics 365. An added bonus is the configurable reading pane, which allows you to view additional information about the record without having to open it. In the example below, we searched for *im across all fields in this Entity, which returns all records in which any field contains any character followed by im. And note that we don't have to open the Jim Glynn Contact record to see additional details – PowerGlobalSearch displays that information in the reading pane when the record is selected.
All of PowerObjects' PowerPack add-ons come with a free 30-day trial, giving you the opportunity to fully test the functionality and explore the benefits before committing to a subscription. Most add-ons, including all 5 described above, are just $1/user/month. For information on all PowerPack add-ons, please see Marketing Automation add-ons or Productivity add-ons.
PowerCharge: Transactions with Stripe Just Got Easier!
PowerObjects has long offered an add-on that securely stores and processes credit cards within CRM for Dynamics 365. Known as PowerCharge, this PowerPack add-on enables users to charge and refund their customers' credit cards directly from Dynamics 365 without having to locally store sensitive and private information.
PowerCharge fully integrates with Stripe (along with many other payment gateways), a technology company whose software allows businesses to receive payments over the internet while providing the technical, fraud prevention, and banking infrastructure required to operate on-line payment systems. The Stripe integration within PowerCharge has been enhanced, so that PowerCharge subscribers using Stripe now have the ability to charge credit cards in more than 130 different international currencies. The process is incredibly simple:
When initially setting up a credit card in Dynamics 365, users will be prompted on the Credit Card page to choose the card's default currency to charge. In the example below, we've selected US Dollars (USD):
Once the card is saved, any transactions charged to it will automatically default to this currency at the point of sale. However, on the point of sale Transaction Information page, users will always be able to change (or override) the default currency to another of the 130+ available currencies. It's simply a matter of clicking on the Currency field and selecting the appropriate currency. For example, we've changed the currency in the example below to British Pounds (GBP):
It's as simple as that! This enhancement saves time by requiring fewer clicks in the majority of transactions while still preserving the ability for the occasional override. (Note that any refunds with Stripe will always use the same currency in which the original transaction was charged.)

Achieving Mobile and Customer Satisfaction with PowerPack Add-ons
So many people today use mobile devices in their daily routines, so why not communicate with your clients on their mobile device? SMS messaging is becoming an increasingly popular channel for business and marketing communication. With the PowerSMS PowerPack Add-on from PowerObjects, Dynamics CRM users can send one-off or automated SMS messages to their customers. In today's blog, we're going to show you a real-world scenario where we send a PowerSurveyPlus survey through PowerSMS when a case is closed.
The workflow is going to trigger when the case status changes so we’ll need three stages to create the process. Before creating the workflow, PowerSMS users must ensure that they have installed the free PowerBitly Tool.
The first stage checks if the status is resolved and then creates the Survey Activity record. After selecting the appropriate survey, we need to add a subject. It's important that None is selected in the Send Link field. If None is not selected, the customer will be sent the survey via email and SMS message.
In the second stage, we need to shorten the Survey URL with Bitly and create the SMS message. Start by selecting Add Step > PowerPack_workflow > po_PowerPack_Workflows.Bitly, and then select Set Properties. Next, select the Value field and in the Look For field, scroll to the bottom of the list to select the create survey step and then select Survey URL.
The next step is to create the SMS message and include the shortened URL. Complete the Create SMS Message record with your desired message and dynamic values, but make sure you add the Bitly URL to the SMS message.
Now we're ready for the third and final stage to change the SMS message status. We need to add a change status step to set the SMS Message record to Pending Sent. The SMS Message created in stage two is set to open, so we need to change the status so that the PowerSMS solution sends the message. To do this, our last step is to add a stop workflow step and activate the workflow. Here's what our workflow looks like once fully built:
Using the steps we outlined today, PowerSurveyPlus and PowerSMS users can automate sending surveys through SMS messages for any scenario! Need help creating your workflow? Our friendly billable support team can help consult or create on custom workflows. For the fastest processing and service, submit a case through our PowerCare Portal.

How to Create a Custom PowerScore!
Users of our PowerScore PowerPack Add-on already know how valuable the solution is in helping to qualify Contacts and Leads by scoring them based on CRM-tracked behaviors. Sometimes, however, users need to score a record based on an aspect that is not listed in a PowerScore rule. In today's blog, we'll cover a simple way to create custom scores in PowerScore to help you track records via a workflow. Let's begin!
For today's example, we want to award a score to each Contact based on their Opportunity budget amount. We want to apply a score of 1 to each Contact that has a budget amount of $5,000 or less and a score of 2 for a budget amount of $5,000-$10,000.
Step 1: Create a workflow for the Opportunity that will run when the record is created and on the change of the Budget Amount field.
Step 2: Add a Check Condition to check if the Budget Amount is less than or equal to $5,000.
Step 3: Now we need to add a step to create, and set the required fields and Regarding Contact for, the PowerScore record.
Step 4: Repeat the condition checks for each Budget range you want to score.
Step 5: Now that you have all of your steps added and rules configured, you are ready to put your workflow into action. Click Save and then Activate your workflow.
The Results: Now that you have your PowerScore workflow created, any time a budget amount is added or updated, the Contact will be scored. To view your scores, navigate to PowerPack > PowerScores and view your scores!
PowerScore users need to update to the latest version of PowerScore first. Not using PowerScore but want to give it a try? Download PowerScore today and start your free 30 day trial!
The CRM Minute: PowerTrivia - Making Interacting with Your Customers Fun and Engaging [VIDEO]
Want to engage your clientele through SMS messages in a fun and interactive manner? With PowerTrivia, users can leverage their PowerSurveyPlus, PowerSMS, and PowerWebForm subscriptions to create and track trivia games within CRM! Users can create custom messages for events like perfect score, incorrect questions, or even if the game has not yet started. Game scheduling allows users to set game play hours, which is great for events such as conferences, expos, or contest windows. PowerTrivia is a fun and interactive way for you to interact and engage with your customers!
Hi, my name is Kristyna and today I'm going to talk to you about our latest solution, PowerTrivia. This is free to subscribers of PowerWebForm, PowerSurveyPlus and PowerSMS. This solution allows you to automate the other three PowerPacks into a fun and interactive trivia game for your clients. Read More
Your trivia game will begin by having a player text in to your number or short code. If a matching record for their information is found within your CRM, the game will begin. If they're not in your CRM, they'll be text back with a link to a web form where you can gather their information, like first name, last name, mobile phone number or email.
During trivia gameplay, your players are going to receive a text message for every trivia question, so in PowerSurveyPlus, you will need to create a separate survey for each question you want your players to receive.
Now that you've created a web form to capture new player information, and you've created your surveys that will act as your trivia questions, your job is done. PowerTrivia automates, sending your trivia questions via PowerSMS. It will also randomize the trivia questions so that your players aren't taking the same questions at the same time.
It allows users to text keys back in such as "score" to see their overall score, or "place" to see if they sit in the top 10. It will also allow you to set a schedule so you can determine the time between correct questions and you can even shorten that time for incorrect questions to allow players to catch up.
Now that you've gotten a sneak peak of PowerTrivia, go ahead and test it out yourself today. Make sure that you have PowerWebForm, PowerSurveyPlus, and PowerSMS already installed before importing PowerTrivia. Thanks for watching The CRM Minute, and join us again, same CRM time, same CRM channel!
Microsoft Dynamics CRM: The Ultimate Platform for Marketing Automation [VIDEO]
Marketing automation is a pretty hot topic right now. Here at PowerObjects, we believe that CRM should be the center of all communications with a customer. Marketing, sales, and service all need to reside in CRM. From a marketing perspective, using tools like our PowerPack Add-ons for CRM such as PowerMailChimp, PowerWebForm, PowerSurveyPlus, PowerWebTraffic, PowerScore, PowerEmail, and PowerSMS allow you to quickly and easily handle the tactical aspects of marketing. Then, by leveraging CRM entities and workflows, you can easily handle the automation directly in CRM. You really do get more out of your CRM system by incorporating marketing automation data across marketing, sales, and service. PowerObjects SVP Dean Jones spoke about this in a special session at this year’s Microsoft Envision conference in New Orleans, LA. The topic of Dean’s session was Microsoft Dynamics CRM: The Ultimate Platform for Marketing Automation. Check out his session from Microsoft’s Envision YouTube channel below!
Remember, marketing automation doesn’t start with a bulk email, it starts with an action. The whole goal behind marketing is to inspire someone to "raise a hand." This means that the process of turning a lead into a paying customer should be defined in advance so that you can trigger the correct conversation. You accomplish this by using marketing automation tools and CRM. Go ahead and just try something! If that doesn’t work, you are free to try a different strategy.
Want to learn more about marketing automation? Here are some resources for you:
In Dean’s own words, “It’s time to bring the one-on-one marketing conversation into CRM.” And we couldn’t agree more!
