How to Turn On Ready-to-Use Business Process Flows in Dynamics CRM 2013

Post Author: Joe D365 |

Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013 supports 4 types of processes: workflows, dialogs, actions, and business process flows. Business process flows are commonly used to define the steps in which users enter data to achieve an outcome. They are displayed at the top of a form as a process bar.

Business process flows can be created for 25 system entities, as well as any custom entity that has the Business Process Flow attribute enabled. Keep in mind that once this attribute is enabled, it cannot be disabled, as shown in the entity configuration screen below.

The purpose of this post is to share how you can install the "ready-to-use" business process flows to your CRM system. Once they have been added to the system, they can serve as a basis for creating custom business process flow definitions.

How to Add Ready-to-Use Data to the System

  1. Navigate to Settings > System > Data Management from the command bar.
  2. Select the Add Ready-to-Use Business Processes link from the Data Management menu.

  3. A Ready-to-Use Business Processes dialog will be displayed. Click the Add button.

  4. Once the installation process completes, a managed solution called BusinessProcesses will have been added to your solution.

How to Remove Ready-to-Use Business Process Flows from the System

  1. Navigate to Settings > Customization > Solutions from the command bar.
  2. Highlight the BusinessProcesses solution and press the Delete button to uninstall the managed solution.
  3. The Uninstall Solution dialog will be displayed. Press the OK button.
