Integrating Microsoft Social Listening with Dynamics CRM 2015 On-Premises

The Microsoft Social Listening integration has been available in CRM Online since the Spring Wave, but now these features are available for On-Premises customers. This exciting feature will allow Microsoft Social Listening subscribers to embed Social Insights like Buzz Volume, Sentiment, etc directly into their CRM!

Configuration

In the CRM Online's Spring Wave release, configuration started with a simple drop down since it could tell where the Social Listening instance was provisioned. However, since on-premises isn't linked to Office 365, there are a few more steps.

  1. Navigate to Settings>>Administration>>Microsoft Social Listening Configuration

  2. You may get a disclaimer to click through

  4. Copy the domain URL you wish to connect to Social Listening
  5. Log into the specific Social Listening site you wish to connect to CRM and navigate to Settings>>Allowed Domains
  6. Paste the copied CRM domain into the top box and the URL will appear in the "Allowed domains" box below

  7. Copy the Solution URL from this screen
  8. In CRM's Social Listening Configuration page, paste the URL into the Connect this CRM instance box and press the Test URL button

Note: If you aren't already logged into Social Listening, you will get an error telling you to log in before you can test the URL

  9. Press the Save Settings button

Adding Social Insights to the Dashboard

Once configured, adding the component to the dashboard is as simple as pressing the new icon to launch the wizard to add Social Insights. The Wizard has three steps: and selecting the Topic or Category and choosing visuals.

  1. Select the topic

  2. Set topic or category

  3. Select Visuals

The actual controls are Iframe based, which allows for multiple controls on the same dashboard or form (each controlling different topics or charts).

Social Insights can be added to:

  • System Dashboards
  • User Dashboards
  • Entity Form

      1. thanks for your reply but how can i use

Social Listening with crm on premise is there any option so i will create dashboard with social.please reply.

        1. Hi Kirit - With crm on premises you can't use social listening. There is no integration. We will be seeing more and more features that are crm online only and not on premises such as social listening integration, offline mobile client, surveys, etc.

          1. I have registered for Office 365 trial version for 30 days and add CRM subscription in my office account. but still No values in drop down "select the microsoft social listening solution to connect to" only None option is selected no other option is availabe. so please help me how to use microsoft social listening solution in CRM.
also microsoft social listening solution is available in free trail version or we need to purchase the subscription for it.

          2. Hi Kirit - we are checking to see if anything changed. Last time we researched there was no free trial and for social listening there is/was a minimum of 10 crm professional licenses required.

          3. Hi Kirit - Yes - with crm 2016 and the new social listening integration you can reply to a facebook post and create a lead in the process.

  5. Hi Joe,

What will be license process to integrate social Listening with MSCRM 2016 on-premise? Is it office 365 account? or need to buy MS Azure license. Please help. Thank you

    1. Hi Santhi,

You will need an office 365 account and to purchase a social listening cal. Currently there is a social engagement professional cal for $75/user/month and enterprise for $125/user/month.
